Obligations

2015

I hate labels; I think they are more divisive than they are beneficial, and don’t get me started on the branding most adopt. So you’ll never hear me calling myself a feminist, that being said I am by the literal definition of the word, and I believe with the whole of my he(art) that everyone is an individual, worthy of respect, and the freedom to conduct their own life in a way that doesn’t hurt anyone else’s. The labels in my eyes feel like another means of measuring an individual against some arbitrary standard and I’m fed up with this type of group thinking. Be confident and secure in who you are as an individual, but that’s a privilege so we must also work to enable that same freedom for others. The people are choking under the restraints of their social obligations.
